Sour Cherries

It's hard to believe it's been over a year since we moved to Denver. When we first moved into the house our cherry tree in the back yard was covered with cherry stems and pits. The birds had gotten to them and devoured them. So we were excited this year to try a few bird prevention tactics and enjoy a bounteous cherry crop. Well, we had a lot of cherries but my vision of sitting on the back porch eating cherries wasn't quite how I pictured it. And instead of cherry pit spitting contests we had sour face contests- who can eat a cherry without making a face. Well after much practice I think Kate won. We did put some of the cherries to good use and put the kids to work using the cherry stoner (best invention!) and made some yummy pie filling (with lots of sugar!)
